Course Fortran Language Programming

    Covers from basic concepts of programming in Fortran to advanced concepts like using build scripts and Makefile. Requires knowledge of Linux. Hours: 30 h

     Objectives:

     At the end of the course, the participant should be able to: understand the history of computing and have notions about hardware and software, write and interpret a program in Fortran, read, process and print data through Fortran programs.

     Target Audience:

     Undergraduate and postgraduate any Brazilian universities who are interested in modeling environmental systems and are unable to perform this learning in their institutions, teachers and researchers who want to learn environmental modeling. Participants should dominate the Linux operating system.

     Content:

     Module 1: Introduction to Fortran, basic concepts, types and variable declarations. Submission forms of reading and printing data and intrinsic functions. Explanations of routines and subroutines and programming constructs such as conditionals and repetition. Annex to the history and architecture of computer software and hardware.

    Module 2: Presentation of various advanced features of the language. Displacement with GOTO and IF statements and assignments advanced modularization, compilation directives and syntax to create the Makefile. Compiling using scripts.

     Methodology:

     Will be offered in character short course in distance mode, with a total workload of 30 hours, and with classes starting every 60 days. All course materials will be made available in a virtual learning environment of UFV, the PVANet. Consist of teaching materials: printing text, audio lessons, exercises and list of recommended reading collection with. Students will be accompanied by tutors throughout the course to answer questions via e-mail system and other communication tools. For this course is provided online interaction, on Fridays, between instructor and student to clarify doubts and questions.

     Certification:

     As the course program is divided into two modules, the passage to the next module is only allowed when the student passes the first. The approval will occur with 70% accuracy in the evaluation questions. If the student is not approved, you will be entitled to a second chance. After passing the first, it passes to the second, in which the procedure is repeated.

     The issuance of the certificate of completion will be given only after the final approval in module II and the response to the questionnaire course evaluation. The shutdown will occur in the case of two failures in one of the modules or if the student exceeds a month (30 days) enrolled in the same module. The maximum travel time is 60 days.
