While the world has its eyes on the burning of the Amazon rainforest, an article by Brazilian researchers published in Nature Sustainability, one of the world's most prestigious journals, offers the country another good reason to keep it standing. The study quantified a portion of the ecosystem services provided by the Forest and indicated how many dollars Brazil can lose per square kilometer deforested if these services are no longer provided.

This is the most detailed work on pricing for ecosystem services provided by the Amazon Rainforest to date around the world.
